In an age, where internet is the hub to finding information, we can sometimes feel overwhelmed with what we find.
In my line of work, I see many people in my local community, mostly of an older generation, who may feel like they can not keep up the pace with every changing services and coping with new innovative equipment such as mobile phones.
Some of the issues which have been expressed are:
- Ordering prescriptions online
- Using a mobile phone for the first time
- Loneliness
- Finding local information/ services available to them
- Which is better? Care home or living at home with help
Many of these questions, you may be able to get help by seeking information from a local social worker. But occasionally, there are times where we feel we need to do our own research, for extra guidance or whatever the reason may be.
One recent discovery is a charity called Independent Age. By thralling through their website, I have found some brilliant information regarding issues from healthy eating through to assessing needs to help make the choice between help at home and care homes. With fantastic videos and additional websites on where to apply for grants etc, this is definitely one website I will be referring to my clients.
